The list of services categoies set out in this page should be regarded as a list of services for the purposes of section 53(6)(c) of the Fair Trading Act 2023.
This page provides a comprehensive list of the general categories of services identified by the Office of Fair Trading (OFT). It has been produced to assist applicants for business licences to clearly stipulate what type of services they intend to carry out. This will in turn assist the OFT to process applications quickly and effectively.
While the OFT considers the list to be extensive, it is not exhaustive. Where you are of the view that a service you intend to provide is not covered by the available categories, please set this out in writing to the OFT’s Business Licensing team: business.licensing@oft.gov.gi.
Please note that the provision of services contained in this list may be subject to additional licensing requirements and other restrictions imposed by other enforcement bodies and/or authorities. Applicants should acquaint themselves with the legal requirements surrounding the provision of the services they intend to provide.
In considering whether or not to grant a licence for any service, the OFT may use its powers pursuant to the Fair Trading Act 2023 to consult with third parties regarding any aspect of the service that it considers relevant. This may include, but shall not be limited to, seeking guidance with regard to the applicant’s competence to deliver the services or any other public interest concerns that may arise.
